I'm sorry if you missed it.

It was the most thrilling finish in Formula 1 history.

From third in the season long standings, Kimi Raikkonen, for Ferrari, won his first Drivers' Championship.

Raikkonen has long been considered the heir apparent to Michael Schumacher.  For much of this season, it wasn't clear why.  But having now won the title, he's taken the first step toward winning that crown.  He didn't prove he's the king yet - a lot of funny things happened to get him this title; but he is on the right track.

Lewis Hamilton must be crushed.  But in fact, given the various McLaren scandals, this was the best possible result.  Any McLaren championship would have been tainted.  That's sad, but true.  It's true, even if intellectual property information of Ferrari was never used.  His mistake in the last race dropped him from 2nd to the point where he had to battle back to get into 7th - which was 2 positions short of what he needed to be ahead of Raikkonen.  He just didn't get the job done.

It does seem that Hamilton, ultimately, choked.  Two terrible mistakes, two races in a row, in the two most important races of his career, have certainly marred his reputation.  His pit lane mistake in the second last race was unforgiveable, really, and it, in retrospect, cost him the championship.

Ferando Alonso has proven himself a cretin.  He's admitted having access to illegal information, admitted using it, and has attempted to blackmail his own team to get preferential treatment over Hamilton.  I'm glad he finished the race 3rd - one place behind what he needed to win the chamionship.

I can't imagine Ron Dennis wanting to keep him, except for the possible joy of fucking him over.

If Renault wants him, I'd let him go.

Thrilling end to an absolutely dramatic season.  In spite of the tribulations, F1 is back.  It's hard to believe that after 22 races 3 drivers should end up just one point apart.
