Back in the day, you just put a man in motion. If somebody shadowed him, they were in man coverage. If nobody followed him, they were in either a zone, or a very loose man-to-man. And that was it. Either audible to a second play if they're in man, or run the play you called in the huddle. All the rest of this business is rubbish. Stamping the foot, tapping the helmet, pointing at linebackers...I half expect one of the lineman to turn around and say "Yeah, I know. I'm blocking that guy. Got it. Now say 'Hike' and we'll see if our little scheme works."
The triple escape by Manning, circus catch by Tyree was one of the best SB plays I've ever seen.
